The Bartlett Family Adventure

The Bartlett Family Adventure is all about the moments that take my breath away as I grow in the glory of God, and live my life to the best of my ability while raising two rowdy boys. This blog is not just about me, it also includes stories of my family's daily adventures. We home school our boys, are trying to grow our fruits and vegetables, we are all on a journey to God, we are trying to live sustainably, and most importantly love the life we lead. Sometimes we stumble, but mostly I like to think we prevail. I am blogging to keep a sort of shared journal. Our life may be messy but it is perfect.

Diets are for the birds.

The problem with dieting is that it takes the fun out of the kitchen. Nothing ever sounds good for dinner, so I think it is back to counting calories and eating what I want. I feel like I am quitting and I hate to quit but when cooking leaves me with a nauseating feeling it is time to move on. So today I am planning a feast for dinner Crunchy garlic chicken (Jamie Oliver), Spicy Pasta Salad with smoked Gouda, tomatoes and basil (From the Pioneer Woman) and candy apple pie (from me). Okay I found a recipe for candy apples and few years ago and turned into a pie. This time I am replacing the Red Hot's for homemade cinnamon candy and then it becomes my own recipe. I have been dreaming of this pie for the last couple of days so today I am going to load the kids up, head to the store, and then spend the afternoon baking an out of season pie.  That and studying for my second to last test for my Algebra class. The 26 is the last day of math and the First day of my summer break. I am hoping to teach James how to read over the summer, at the very least have him able to recognize his letters, numbers, shapes, and colors by the end of summer. I better get started on my day.
