The Bartlett Family Adventure

The Bartlett Family Adventure is all about the moments that take my breath away as I grow in the glory of God, and live my life to the best of my ability while raising two rowdy boys. This blog is not just about me, it also includes stories of my family's daily adventures. We home school our boys, are trying to grow our fruits and vegetables, we are all on a journey to God, we are trying to live sustainably, and most importantly love the life we lead. Sometimes we stumble, but mostly I like to think we prevail. I am blogging to keep a sort of shared journal. Our life may be messy but it is perfect.

June Goal updates

I know I didn't post a goal update for May but it mostly stayed the same. I might change some of them to more reasonable goals because we are moving and traveling for a month. Then we are going to try to buy a house and hopefully that goes smoothly. It seems like our goals that I started in January became hard to focus on when we got orders. I, well we have been going through our stuff and weeding it out starting with the boys' room. I wish I had the heart to go through our books I am sure I could donate at least a dozen books if not more but that is mentally hard for both Rob and I to think of it. So far we have donated a lot of stuff and trashed some junk. Honestly we will be doing it as we unpack to. So hopefully we will start the next chapter of our life less cluttered. So I guess on to the updates...

Family goals

1. No credit use-We have still been on the right path here. We did go into the credit line which is disheartening but it is not a big deal as it will be paid off on Pay day with a interest payment of 5 or so dollars it is still not good but not as bad as it could have been.

2. To pay off 5 of 6 bills- Starting debt- $17928.61 June debt-$10600.57

So I just paid off one more credit card! Man does it feel good to cross it off the wall. I have note cards on my wall that I keep track of what we owe. Trust me when you have to look at your debt every time you walk out of your bedroom door you have incentive to take one down. It feels good. I did use some of our newly saved money for this last payment because the pay off amount was $490 we have about $2800 in savings. Rob got a ticket and for the first time I was grateful for that account. It sucks but we both knew that we had the money and we didn't have to worry about where the money was going to come from. So if you don't have at least $1000 in the bank for emergencies you should get started. It really feels good know for once we have control over our money and we are not being controlled by it...

3. Vegetable garden that we can use for meals.- We are leaving in 3 weeks! Needless to say our garden is almost completely dismantled. I hope we get in to our house soon but I am not sure if or when we can get started again this year.
4. Potty training James. Is on hold until we move to make moving easier for him.

5. Damian reading chapter books, Damian loves reading Chapter books now. He gets so excited when he finishes a whole book.

My goals- Are not going well at all. Maybe I tried to focus on too many things to get done this year. I do like the goals I choose for myself this year. Too bad I am not doing well on any of them. I am always trying to be a better mother and with our impending move we are spending more time inside trying to get ready then outside in the sunshine. So I feel like I am not doing as well as I could do. Becoming a better housekeeper feels like a joke. With all the cleaning and sorting it feels like a losing battle. That and our stuff is leaving us and I will be cleaning for a week and then not cleaning for a month, two months or when ever. My fitness goal are suffering as they dropped to below the list of things that need to be done over all. I will get back to them in a couple of months. Rob got us P90X and I am looking forward to starting that. So I am just trying to eat small portions and stay away from sugar as much as I can so I don't gain more weight! This may prove to be hard as we are staying with my grandma for two weeks in July...
1. Get Fit
2. To be able to run 6 miles in 1hour.
3.Be a better mother-
4.Be a better house keeper-

Really my goals may not updated over the summer. Hopefully I will update my blog with some cool pictures and travel stories and then house hunting adventures. I do want to say something to those of you who are at the beginning of  your debt free journey.. It may seem impossible at the first baby steps but the more you baby step forward your steps slowly get bigger. It is hard but not impossible. If we can do this so can you. It feels good when you can see the light at the end of the road. That road while not paved with gold will be paved in lighter steps.

Peace Be With You!

ps.. I just checked my spelling and found only four basic typo's. That is an accomplishment on its own, I used to have horrible spelling.
