The Bartlett Family Adventure

The Bartlett Family Adventure is all about the moments that take my breath away as I grow in the glory of God, and live my life to the best of my ability while raising two rowdy boys. This blog is not just about me, it also includes stories of my family's daily adventures. We home school our boys, are trying to grow our fruits and vegetables, we are all on a journey to God, we are trying to live sustainably, and most importantly love the life we lead. Sometimes we stumble, but mostly I like to think we prevail. I am blogging to keep a sort of shared journal. Our life may be messy but it is perfect.

Day 1

So I started the 17 day diet today. At the beginning of the year I wanted to lose 30 pounds and maybe fit into my wedding dress fit by my 10 year Anniversary. I though it would be a gift for him to know that I, after 10 years and two giant children I could still fit into the dress I wore when we became Man and Wife. Well in the last 5 months I have lost 10 pounds. An average of 2 pounds a month. I was losing motivation when a dear friend of mine called to tell me about her diet. She was so excited to start and would call or text me her results every few days. She has started the second cycle with a weight loss of 13 pounds on the 17 day diet. This is the first time I have ever used a "diet" before I just counted calories and exercised but before I was also breastfeeding and desperate to be out of maternity clothes. Breastfeeding helped me loss weight. My kids were hungry and I made all the milk they needed for the first year of their life.
Yesterday on the scale I weighed in at 163. Today for my day 1 weigh in 165. I do not think I have gained 2 pounds over night so I am going to start at 163. My goal is about 140 but if I get down to 145 and feel like I look good I will stop. 18-23 pounds is my goal. I don't think I will lose it all in the first 17 days but with in the 68 day cycle would be nice. No sugar, no alcohol, a lot of water, low carbs. Here is what I think will be hard for me. No bread, No red wine, No beer, No Pasta, No butter, eating so much chicken and fish with no butter.

I think it will be worth it. I hope to see results.
